Sarah does it again!
After leaving Spain, late afternoon before the British Championships were to begin it didn’t leave me much time to prepare. I stopped in Bournemouth for the night to break up my journey down to Newquay and set off at 5am with the aim to dodge the bank holiday traffic. I stopped for a power nap half way down so that I wouldn’t become a statistic and ended up going straight to the beach to get ready to defend my British Title. Unfortunately the waves were not in any way inviting however like any competition you just have to knuckle down and get on with it no matter the conditions you are faced with. Winning that heat I was feeling good for the following day especially on my new Quiver board, a 5’ 4 which was perfect for the half a foot to one foot onshore conditions!
The following day to my surprise the swell had jumped to one foot… maybe two on the sets. Another tricky day of competition I knew it was important to get two waves in as early as possible. After winning my semi-final, I had to keep it up for the final which was held later that afternoon. Despite the waves the event was a great success with some half pipe skateboarding on show as well as the obvious surfing. I managed to reclaim my women’s British title for the second consecutive year followed by Nicole Morgan, Jo Dennison and Tassy Swallow respectively. Check out some of Gareth Davies, coverage of the event at www.newquaysurfer.org . Still down in Cornwall now getting my Uni assignment finished so I have the weekend off as there is a good looking swell that is forecasted for the next few days!
Cheers,
Sarah

After a whole week of rain, the day of the finals the sun was shining! so that was a good start allready. I was the first one off the dock and i like that more because then there is not so much stress! I did a nice run, started with a Tantrum, Frontroll, then i hit the slider, Hs 360, switch 180 then on the way back, scarecrow, backroll, sliders, ts 540 and then i wanted to do an air raley (like a superman) but something went wrong in the air, so i tried to safe in and pull it back to a 180 and i landed my first krypt ever
pretty stoked about that!
I got 5th place with 3 points less then the 4th place. as the other girls are all living in the usa and riding all year around, I am pretty happy with my 5th place! I will try to go to America this winter to learn some new tricks asswel so hopefully i can try to get a higher spot next year! I am flying home this evening with Michael Timmers, i had a really good time here but i can’t wait to get home to do some freeriding! Next comp is on Saturday, in Izegem: the Flanders Open!
see ya!

Riga 2010
Last week Ricky and me went to Riga, we got invited for the famous Riga wakeboard cup. It was my 4th time that I was there and its getting better every year! We left at Thursday from Amsterdam, after a 2 hours flight we arrived at Riga airport where the chief of Protest Latvia (Laura) picked us up. She brought us to the hotel where we had a quick shower and from there we went out for dinner.. Ricky and me went for the big steak and some nice cocktails, after that we had to go to bed because we had to get up early!
The next morning Laura picked us up at our hotel and brought us to the TV studio! They’ve put some make up on our faces and we went on national television! It was a nice show and we were asked questions about the competition and how we liked it! From there we went out for lunch. At 0300 pm we had another press meeting with newspapers and TV stations, again lots of questions about wakeboarding, but it was now time to show those guys what we really did on the water, so all the cameras went with us in to the boat and we did a little show for them! Later that night we were on TV again!
Later that evening we met the other riders in the hotel and went out for some Thai food, got a quick shower and went to the club where DJ Tiësto was playing, we had a lot of fun!
Competition day! After a big party night we woke up and prepared us for the big day! The competition was head to head. So 2 riders on the water and the best one went through! My run was perfect, did everything what I wanted without any falls, same for Ricky. We had to ride first against the local guys and later against the good international riders, but we both did very good and ended up 1st and 2nd. We closed the day with a few drinks…..
The weekend was just perfect and it was nice to go there again! I want to thank Laura from Protest for all the good care! And I also want to thank Kaspers, Pauls and Valters for inviting us! Hopefully we’ll be back next year!!!!

After a nice week in Toulouse with the Protest team it was time to head to Sweden for the European championships behind the boat. On Tuesday we had a training session with the Belgian Team, so we could check out the wake, the slider and the kicker, the training went okey. I landed all my tricks so i was ready for the comp.
The girls where devided in 3 heats, once i saw my heat i got a bit scared, it was a very hard heat and only one girl went straight to the finals, i had to do a nice run to get in the finals but i fell twice so i had to go to the lcq (last chance to qualify) The lcq was devided in 2 heats and again only one girl from each heat went true to the next round. I started my pass with a tantrum. On the take off i felt something was wrong with my board. I landed the tantrum, but once i started cutting for my next trick i could feel that my finn broke off, i could still land my frontroll but i crashed on the next trick.
I got in the boat, the judges said i had 4 minutes to change my finn and once i finished they went back to the place where i fell and i could finish my run. It where a very scared 4 minutes but with some help i got it fixed in time, i allready had a fall so i knew i had to do a nice 2nd pass to still make it to the finals. I did some nice inverts and i landed my air raley wich was good to take me to the finals. I was very happy with that because after breaking the finn i thougt i couldnt make it anymore!
In the finals i had to start second of the dock, i fell once, but i had a nice run that put me in second place, the level was very high so i am happy with that! Next competition will be Chill and Ride in Strassbourg, see you there!

I’m down in Chile right now for World Rookie Fest, and for some shooting as well.
I met up with the Rookie fest crew in Frankfurt (some italians and austrian guys) and then we took direct flight to Chile, the whole trip took about 20 hours so I got pretty tired of that. We arrived in Santiago and then took a car up the mountain, took like one hour.
The ski resort is called Valle Nevado and it’s a really good place. The slopes are nice and it’s fun to just shredd around because I haven’t been snowboarding for like three months, so I’m super stoked. I have been here for like four days now and Chile is a really cool place and there is a lot of nice people here.
The contest was supposed to be yesterday, but then it started blowing to much wind so they postponed the contest to next week, so it doesn’t really matter to me. We’re just gonna try to get some shooting until then. And I will see what happens.
Here are some pics from the last couple of days.
Peace / Sven
